The global leader in krill-based functional feed ingredients, Aker QRILL Company, announced a few days ago the appointment of two seasoned aquaculture professionals to its Southeast Asia team: Daranee Seguin, as QRILL Product Director Shrimp, and Yen Nguyen as Country Manager Vietnam. For them, the hires mark a significant investment in a region where aquaculture -and shrimp farming in particular- is experiencing dynamic growth.

«Southeast Asia’s aquaculture sector is not just growing – it’s professionalizing at a remarkable pace. Having Daranee and Yen on the ground means we can work shoulder-to-shoulder with feed mills and farmers, helping them formulate for performance and resilience. This is the right team at the right time to bring our science-backed solutions closer to where they matter most,” said Chaiyot Rawekchom, Regional Sales Director for Southeast Asia and General Manager Thailand, Aker QRILL Company.

For Aker QRILL Company, Southeast Asia stands at the center of global shrimp production, and the industry is entering a transformative phase. This growth brings new demands. Feed costs, disease management, and sustainability credentials have become decisive factors for producers competing on the global stage. Farmers are increasingly turning to functional feed ingredients that can improve animal welfare, support growth performance, and strengthen disease resilience – exactly where QRILL Aqua’s well-positioned ingredient solutions come into play.

Two Experienced Professionals in the Shrimp Sector

Daranee Seguin will join the company on 1st January 2026 as QRILL Product Director Shrimp, bringing over 16 years of experience in aquaculture nutrition and feed formulation. With a PhD in nutrition and deep expertise in the shrimp sector, Daranee will drive product strategy and technical conceptualization globally. She will focus on translating scientific documentation into commercial value, helping partners optimize feed formulations for performance and cost-efficiency.

For her part, Yen Nguyen joins as Country Manager for Vietnam, bringing six years of hands-on experience as an aquaculture nutritionist working with leading feed mills in the Vietnamese market. She holds a degree in aquaculture from Can Tho University and a Master’s degree from National Taiwan Ocean University. Her formulation expertise and deep understanding of local market dynamics make her ideally positioned to drive demand and support customers across Vietnam’s fast-expanding aquaculture sector.

Improving Health Across Species

QRILL Aqua‘s krill-based products offer a unique nutritional profile – rich in marine phospholipids, omega-3s, and astaxanthin – that supports gut health, stress resilience, and feed palatability in shrimp and other aquaculture species.

With these appointments, Aker QRILL Company is betting that local expertise, combined with science-backed solutions, will resonate in markets where quality and traceability increasingly differentiate winning producers from the rest.

Aker QRILL Company is an Antarctic krill-harvesting company dedicated to improving health across species. They assure they develop krill-based ingredients for nutraceutical, aquaculture, and animal feed applications, backed by rigorous science and research into krill’s benefits. Sustainability is at the core of their operations, rooted in world-class standards.

The company develops krill-based ingredients for aquaculture (QRILL Aqua), animal feed applications (QRILL Pet), and nutraceutical human health products.

Their core priorities, they explain, are ensuring the well-being of the krill biomass and contributing to a thriving Antarctic ecosystem. Before we even started fishing for krill, we ensured that sustainability was a priority every step of the way, from developing eco-friendly technology and endorsing sustainable fishing practices to facilitating research on the Antarctic ecosystem. “To us, it makes no sense to remove something from the ocean to improve health if it simultaneously compromises the health of the ocean,” the assure.

Their business spans the entire value chain – from sustainable harvesting in pristine Antarctic waters to their logistics hub in Montevideo, ensuring a fully transparent process that brings products to customers worldwide.
